1. Joining the research
My name is Ian and I am a violist from Spain . I joined the research project because I couldn't find a comfortable way of playing and everything was painful.
My arms were often very stiff after playing for hours. On my left side the shoulder rest was always pushing into the breast bone and this resulted in some pain in the chest muscles. The movements of my left arm were blocked by my original shoulder rest, making left-hand technique difficult. Also, because my viola was fixed in one position by the shoulder rest, my bow arm had trouble moving freely. After participation in this project these problems have disappeared. Now I feel very free while playing and very comfortable. There is no pain anywhere.
